in the Winter

70 km of well groomed slopes and 26 lifts: wonderful conditions for every winter sport lover.

Beginners to Advanced

15 km blues, 43 km reds, 12 km blacks - There's something for every level of skier in the Wildschönau.

The Wildschönau ski resorts are particularly good for novices as most of the beginners lifts are in the village. The ski schools offer great beginner ski courses and "Learn to Ski"-packages. It all makes learning to ski easy!

Race 'n' Boarder Arena

The Race 'n' Boarder Arena offers a permanent race track used by the Austrian Ski Team for training, mogul-fields and speed-tracks on which you can see how fast you are skiing. GS and S runs plus a wide variety of entertaining activities turn the mountain into a playground !

The possibilites

As you come up from Wörgl, you first see the north-facing slopes of the Lanerköpfl and the Markbachjoch Mountains in Niederau, where skiing has been since 1947. The first adventurous attempt at a single chair lift was built on

wooden supports, where the state of the art eight-man gondola runs today. There are two or three blue runs on the wide ridge of the Markbachjoch but the runs to the valley, especially the Hochberg run or the deep black Stock run are soley for advanced skiiers. It's only the Märchenwiese run where snow cannons can be used that can be classed as a red home run.
On the Schatzberg Mountain in Auffach, the Wildschönau's largest ski area, the runs are comparatively more gentle. The terrain is wide open and families and beginners feel at ease on the sunny ski motorways.
There is a Funpark for the boarders and one or two mogul fields and off piste runs if you want to test your strength. For those wanting to take the run from top to bottom a little fitness doesn't go amiss as the run is 10km long!

In Oberau there are five drag lifts for beginners and one black run on the Riedl slope.

By the way, did you know that the Wildschönau is the highest ski resort in the Kitzbühel Alps?

Small but excellent!
'First place goes to the Wildschönau Valley' When tested by the German Automobile Association ADAC the Wildschönau ski resort won hands down for family friendliness, variety, fun park, alpine skiing, Nordic walking, cross country skiing and après ski.

The 15 man jury consisted of travel journalists and photographers, ski stars and managers of important tourist associations in Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France and chairmen of companies in these countries.

The Wildschönau was awarded the first prize in the 'Small but Excellent' category for the whole of the Alps.
