in the Summer

The high valley Wildschönau of Tirol lays halfway between the border to Bavaria and the state-capitol of Innsbruck, south of the Inn-valley, at a height of 828 to 1.150 meter above sea level. With its 4 villages Niederau, Oberau, Auffach and Thierbach, the Wildschönau opens up a whole little world for you.

Step by step to new heights in the Wildschönau: discovering the mountain world with the help of professional guides or alone, hiking on great heights or to the cultural treasures of the valley: There are literally no boundaries to the hiking pleasure. 300 km of marked and prepared hiking trails lead from the valley to the mountain pastures and the cyclopean mountain ranges of the Kitzbüheler and Zillertaler alps, past blooming fields and umbrageous forests. Along the road old fashioned, cozy "Almhütten" and resting places with fantastic views invites one to take a rest and catch a breath. Writing yourself in into the summit book gives satisfaction and a good feeling of having come another big step further in life.

Four times a week guided experience hikes are being organized, which can be attended for free with the WildschönauCard. The organized "spices- and healing herbs hike" to the Holzalm farms in Oberau allow you to collect herbs in the garden as well as in free nature. During hikes over Joch via Rosskopf or the Gressensteinalm in Auffach one follows the route of gurgling creeks. The summit hikes let body and mind liven up through the fresh nature and the vast and diverse Alps flora. The group offering is named "Bergbauern und Sonnengesang" and includes visits to old farms, samples of typical farmer specialties, baking bread and a visit to the mountain farmer’s museum, the Bergbauernmuseum.
