Walking

The Wildschönau is embedded in the Kitzbühel Alps and entices you with its dozens of wonderful walks. The gondolas make the first climb easy and at the top you are rewarded with breathtaking views over the valley and surrounding areas.

Over 300 km of well kept walking paths to explore either on your own or with a guide. The Wildschönau is a special part of Tirol.
Walk from Alm to Alm, to the lofty peaks, on the herbal trail or take part in a sunrise walk, the possibilities are almost endless.
There are even badges for the more ambitious in bronze, silver or gold.

High Rope Course in Zauberwinkel in Oberau.

The first high wire climbing course is a special adventure. Set in wonderful alpine scenery, the park is ideal for team training, educational experiences for school and youth groups and is a challenge for most people. The wires are strung between trees at heights between 14 and 21 metres. There are 17 different stations in three categories to conquer. (Children must be taller than 140 cm and accompanied by an adult).

Climbing in the tree tops demands self confidence and team spirit as well as leadership qualities and stress management.
You don't have to be top fit to successfully traverse the rope bridges, and there are no rules for mastering each task...

...and for these reasons the park is a popular activity for schools, companies and clubs and is ideal for personell and management training.

The High Rope Course Park is an unforgettable experience. You will be amazed about your own bravery.

There are 17 different tasks - 17 new challenges!

"Your heart pumps, your knees shake. You breathe in deep as you put one foot onto the rope. Step by step you reach your own limitations and then you go beyond them! What a feeling! And you know you'll be back to overcome other hurdles." It's human nature to seek a challenge and bravely overcome obstacles, to put trust in yourself and your companions.

Dynamic Nordic walkers overtaking normal pedestrians are a familiar sight in the Wildschönau. Here we recognised early the advantages of this all-round-sport.

Austria's first Nordic Fitness Sports Park in the Wildschönau offers a varied choice of trails ranging from easy to advanced. We, in the Wildschönau were among the first to recognise the advantages of Nordic Walking and are consequently well equipped to offer various packages including instruction and accommodation.

There are seven different trails in the 1st Austrian Nordic Fitness Sports Park which vary in length and difficulty. They are named after our sponsors and include the Sandbichler Trail, the Wildschönauer Lift Trail and the Columbia Sportswear Trail. Nordic Walking, Power Walking, Nordic Hill Walking and Nordic Snow Walking are all possible depending on the trail and the time of year.

The trails are all circular and lead you through the prettiest corners of the well loved Wildschönau Valley which has managed to maintain its Tirolean charm and originality despite it's ever growing popularity as a holiday destination. The routes lead you past splendid farmhouses and whimsical mountain chalets and again and again to breathtaking views and places of interest like the 1st Tirolean Wood Museum and the Mountain Farmer's Museum Z'Bach. The first part of the Sandbichler Trail takes you along the Path of Reflection, which is dedicated to St Francis of Assissi and is a gallery for the bronzes „the Sunrise Songs of St Francis" by the well known local sculptor Hubert Flörl. At the end of this trail is the Wildschönau's local open air pool complex.

The use of the trails is free of charge.
